2014 Nationals

Who are we?

The Powerlifting Team at LSU was founded in 1999 by a core group of 11 members. Through several years of hard work and dedication, LSU Powerlifting has grown to be one of the best teams in the country. We are proud of the nine National Championships we have earned and hope to continue this legacy. Though we have achieved great success over the years, we have not lost sight of the main purpose of our team: to mold our members into leaders and give them the opportunities and skills to grow as individuals. We hope that our lifters will take the tools and lessons they learn while with us to help them to be successful in their lives.

2013 Collegiate Nationals – Killeen, TX

Our ladies took home the gold, with three of our female lifters placing First  in their respective weight classes and one placing Third. The men took home 4th, with three lifters placing Second and one placing Third in their respective weight classes.  We are proud to say that one of our female lifters, Kayli Alphonso, won the Best Lifter Award for the lightweight women’s in addition to receiving First Place in her weight class.

My name is Sandra Smith and I am the girls coach at Lafayette Co. High School in Oxford, MS. I have a girl that is interested in coming to LSU. She squats 350, benches 145, and dead lifts 450. Do you have any scholarship opportunities for powerlifting? Thanks Coach, Smith

  2. Unfortunately, we do not give out scholarships for powerlifting here at LSU as we are a student ran team. Please email lsupowerlifting@tigers.lsu.edu for an informational packet. Thank you
